Curriculum Series Overview, Custom Programming, and Custom Black and Green Belt Certification:

The Excellence through Analytics series is designed for an audience from organizational roles with key responsibilities in managing or improving products, services and processes.  Those leaders and change agents who are involved directly in managing and implementing improvement projects and initiatives will find the content of the series invaluable for supporting them in their responsibilities.  Three courses are offered on campus throughout the year as part of this series and those course titles and descriptions follow.  However, the Center for Executive Education has a long history of designing and providing custom, on-site programs for a myriad of organizations in the area of process improvement, fact-based management and design of experiments, as well as helping customers attain Green and Black Belt Certifications.  More information regarding our custom course business can be obtained by contacting the center. 

Four course offerings under the Excellence Through Analytics series are as follows:
 

Course 1:  Data Aquisition Strategies: Six Sigma and Beyond 

Based on over 18 years of training and implementing six sigma and lean across many different industries, Data Acquisition Strategies:  Six Sigma and Beyond goes beyond the teaching of a pre-defined roadmap and checklist of tools.  It is designed to take the sharpest individuals from an organization, utilize their knowledge and technical expertise, and train them in statistical thinking so that they can be leaders of improvement efforts within the organization. The primary objective of this two, non-consecutive, week-long course is to equip individuals with the skills to effectively acquire, interpret and act on information from a process or product.

Course 2:  Design of Experiments

Design of Experiments (DOE) is an invaluable methodology in establishing new product performance criteria and identifying process or equipment parameters that impact product performance. Well-designed experiments are the only way to verify cause-and-effect relationships among product and process parameters when interactions exist among the variables.  DOE is unique in that it focuses not on the statistical side of design of experiments, but on the effective planning of design of experiments strategies to achieve results that are transferrable and verifiable.
 

Course 3:  Data Mining for Improved Business Results

Our Data Mining for Improved Business Results course teaches tools, techniques, thought processses and a business philosophy to meet the needs of company stakeholders by improving performance, processes, decisions, and cumulative proprietary business knowledge.  Participants attending this course would most likely be managers and analysts responsible for improving business performance in an environment where "large" sources of data are collected, warehoused, and available for use.  Participants would primarily be interested in utilizing statistical techniques for improving business intelligence and performance in the area of direct marketing, debt collection, fraud detection, process and quality improvment, risk management, and customer relationship management.
