Bruce K. Behn

 

Bruce K. Behn, CPA is the Ergen Professor in Business and a professor of accounting in the Department of Accounting and Information Management at The University of Tennessee.  He teaches financial statement analysis, performance and cost management, and the Marketplace simulation in U.T.'s Master of Accountancy Program, Executive MBA programs and various CEE Management Development programs.

Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., Bruce worked in The Netherlands as the international financial coordinator for Rockwell International Company.  In addition, he has worked for Allen-Bradley in various domestic capacities, including controller and financial analyst.  He has also worked for KPMG Peat Marwick as a senior auditor.

Bruce has received a number of teaching awards within The University of Tennessee and the American Accounting Association.  Recently he received the Accounting Educator of the Year from the TSCPA.  In addition, Bruce has considerable experience in helping companies evaluate their businesses to improve financial performance.

Dr. Behn has published in numerous publications, including Accounting Horizons, Journal of Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accountancy.  He is a member of the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs, and the American Accounting Association.

Bruce Behn received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and his Ph.D. in accounting and MBA from Arizona State University.
