Steve Geary

 

Steve GearySince 2002, Steve Geary has been engaged in a broad ranging project for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, helping drive transformation of military logistics to deliver more nimble, flexible, and responsive capabilities. As a part of the DoD's "Business Transformation" initiative, Geary works across OSD’s acquisition, technology, and logistics domain.  He also is deeply involved in the RFID efforts, both within and outside the DoD, and led the Objective Assessment of Logistics in Iraq for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff to uncover key lessons from Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Steve Geary has worked with organizations around the world in a variety of industries and, through frequent speaking engagements and publications, has become known as a leading expert on supply chain design and performance. With more than 20 years of experience in supply chain management, both as a "hands-on" manager and as a highly respected consultant and author, Geary brings to UT a wealth of domain expertise and thought leadership.  His recent work has appeared in the Harvard Business Review, Supply Chain Management Review, DC Velocity, and the Defense Transportation Journal.

During his career, Geary has held senior positions in manufacturing, materials management, business development, product marketing, and product management with companies including Teradyne, Inc., PRTM, Emerson Electric Co., and IBM. He has worked in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.

Geary holds a B.S. and a Master's in industrial engineering and operations research from Cornell University and an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is a Certified Production and Inventory Control Manager.
