Michael G. Winchell retired from the federal government in 2005 after a 28-year career. While with the government, he served as:
- chief counsel to both the NASA Johnson Space and Kennedy Space Centers
- counsel Marine Corps logistics bases
- environmental law counsel to DOD JDMAG Joint Depot Environmental Panel
- counsel Marine Corps logistics base, Albany, Georgia
- counsel southeastern bases, United States Marine Corps
- EEOC administrative judge
- associate regional counsel Region 7, General Services Administration
Winchell currently is the
Assistant Director of Legal Research and Writing
of Oklahoma School of Law where he has taught government contract law; environmental law; and legal research, writing and oral advocacy.
During his career, Winchell received over 30 awards, including the Presidential Rank of Meritorious Senior Executive Award (2000), the NASA Exceptional Service Medal (2001), and the Department of Navy Meritorious Civilian Service medal (1993).
Mike and his wife Donna live near Norman, Oklahoma.
