THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE
THE HEAVYWEIGHT IN PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

The source of an organization's strength and competitive advantage lies in using data-driven methods to manage process variation and deliver customer value. UT's innovative process improvement / six sigma courses will help you harness the power of statistical thinking and transform you and your organization.

UNRIVALED EXPERTISE

For over 25 years, UT has pioneered the field of process improvement / six sigma. Our faculty literally "wrote the book" on improving industrial processes, helping hundreds of organizations worldwide maximize productivity and profits.

HEAVY-DUTY INSTRUCTION

UT's heavy-duty programs teach more than statistical methods; they equip you with the ability to improve systems, deliver value, and maximize your bottom line. Faculty members are easily accessible for project coursework and ongoing implementation assistance.

IMMEDIATE, TANGIBLE ROI

The hallmark of UT's programs is hands-on learning using specific, applied project work that you can apply to your organization's processes. You will see an immediate, tangible return on your investment in this training, and your sponsoring organization will begin to recoup an ROI even before your instruction has concluded.

The Excellence through Analytics series is designed for an audience from organizational roles with key responsibilities in managing or improving products, services and processes.  Those leaders and change agents who are involved directly in managing and implementing improvement projects and initiatives will find the content of the series invaluable for supporting them in their responsibilities.

Process Improvement Fundamentals:
The Process Improvement Fundamentals course serves as the introductory course in the Excellence through Analytics series.  The main objective of the course is to provide a set of concepts and methods that will promote effective project work, team-based problem-solving, and an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization.  It is designed to provide an overview of many of the methodologies that are the foundation for any quality program.
Principles of Analytics: Fact Based Management:
Fact Based Management serves as the leadership and foundational course of the series, teaching the basic, fundamental principles necessary to achieve evidence-based or fact-based management.  This course deals with issues that face leaders responsible for sustaining changes or guiding improvement efforts.  The course id taught in such a way that it supports the effective acquisition and interpretation of analytical information critical for the successful implementation of any improvements initiative, whether Six Sigma, Lean or Evidence-Based Management.
Data Aquisition Strategies: Six Sigma and Beyond I & II:
Based on over 18 years of training and implementing Six Sigma and Lean across many different industries, Data Acquisition Strategies:  Six Sigma and Beyond I & II goes beyond the teaching of a pre-defined roadmap and checklist of tools.  It is designed to take the sharpest individuals from an organization, utilize their knowledge and technical expertise, and train them in statistical thinking so that they can be leaders of improvement efforts within the organization. The primary objective of this two week course is to equip individuals with the skills to effectively acquire, interpret and act on information from a process or product.
Design of Experiments I & II:
Design of experiments I & II (DOE) is an invaluable methodology in establishing new product performance criteria and identifying process or equipment parameters that impact product performance. Well-designed experiments are the only way to verify cause-and-effect relationships amongst product and process parameters when interactions exist among the variables.  DOE I & II is unique in that it focuses not on the statistical side of design of experiments, but on the effective planning of DOE strategies to achieve results that are transferrable and verifiable.
Transactional Six Sigma I & II:
Transactional Six Sigma I & II utilizes the methodologies of Six Sigma and illustrates how these methodologies can be applied to administrative areas in order to see the same gain in operational performance. This program illustrates through examples, simulations, and applied exercises how Six Sigma can be applied to service businesses and administrative areas to unify improvement efforts and more consistently deliver customer expectations.
